Belonging, Believing, Building a Future

Governance

The Governors at St Peter’s School are a well informed and committed group of volunteers who work as a team to

  • Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff;
  • Oversee the financial performance of the school, making sure its money is well spent.

As part of the Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust (ODST) the work of the governing board is supported by the Directors of ODST. The Directors have delegated many responsibilities to the governors, if you want to read more about this you can do so here

Further information about the Directors of ODST can be found here

The governors work closely with Mrs King and other members of the staff team; they routinely visit school to monitor the implementation of the school’s strategic priorities.  Governors receive training and support from ODST and the Diocese to help them fulfil their role effectively.

Meetings of the full governing board take place about eight times a year.

During the Coronavirus lockdown (March - July 2020), the governing body powers were given to a smaller Executive Advisory Committee, supported by the school's ODST Improvement Advisor.

If you want to find out more about the work of the governors the Scheme of Delegation for the Local Governing Body of St Peter's School can be found here. Copies of meeting minutes can be obtained on request from the school office.  Governors are always happy to be contacted by parents/carers and children.  Governors can be contacted via the school office, or you can email the clerk to the governors at This email address is being protected from spambots. Unless stated otherwise governors have not declared any business or pecuniary interests, they do not have a relationship with any member of the school staff, nor are they members of any other governing body. The data below is for the academic year 2019/20.  Iain Curtis, a teacher at St Peter's has a standing invitation to attend all Governing Body meetings.
