At St Peter's, our pupils have asked for roles and responsibilities as part of their school life. They see it as part of belonging to the school and being able to contribute. We have developed roles with them to enables them to take the lead in shaping their school community, supporting decision making and upholding the school and British values. 

Courageous Advocacy

 At St Peter's, we understand this to be 'speaking out or acting against an injustice, often for a cause or individual who can't act themselves.' Pupils at St Peter's are passionate about making a difference to others and below are some of the ways in which they have impacted others positively recently. Recent examples of courageous advocacy include:

• Let it Shine week - earning a Fairaware award for our work on fairtrade, helping at a Remembrance themed Community lunch with older residents and neighbours and working with parish council to plant trees and plan parliament week. 
• Raising money with Maths day to pay for water purifiers for two schools in Uganda through Christian Development Uganda and raising money on a whole school sponsored walk for Rise and Shine school through Christian Development Uganda. This money will pay for new outdoor play equipment.

• Supporting safety, support, connection and community in our village by: helping set up and attending community lunches for older village residents; including delivering greetings cards; designing signs for the local village playground; recycling second hand clothes, donating food to local food bank. 

• Holding a climate change awareness day and envt awareness day linked to Earth day to raise awareness and encourage individuals to reduce their plastic use and raise issues like river pollution with our local MP.
