Nearly a third of our school pupils come from Military families, primarily working at RAF Brize Norton nearby. At St Peter's we are keen to support pupils from Forces families with experiences unique to them and to encourage our whole community to understand life as a Service pupil. Mrs Smith, one of our wonderful teaching assistants, is our Forces Lead. She meets with our Forces pupils in Superloopers club, organises Forces and Friends events and liaises with families when going through deployment or relocation.
If you need to let us know that you are part of a military family as a school family, please contact the office and we can send you the relevant paperwork. If someone is being deployed, please complete this form to give us the relevant information.
We are lucky enough to have secured funding in order to continue to develop our support for Forces pupils and their friends. We are joining together with two local ODST schools to share resources, expertise and training costs, as well as building a network of support for our service pupils. See here for more information about the charity and their work.
We have worked closely with Matt Blyton, a School Improvement Advisor, to further develop our knowledge provision for Service families through this project. It has provided a wealth of knowledge and skills as well as opportunities for staff training, pupil support and enrichment. School have used the Thriving Lives Toolkit and other resources to ensure we are giving the best academic and pastoral support possible for our service family pupils.
